Big splash...

The new super water slide at the Gettysburg City Pool made a big splash on Sunday when kids took their maiden voyage through the big tunnels. Steele Genzler (Nancy and Roger) was the lucky winner of the drawing to be the first kid through the slide. He picked the yellow one, which is the faster of the two, to make his big splash.

The pool was scheduled to open on Saturday, but cold, rainy weather postponed it until Sunday. Even though the skies were sunny, the water was still a little cool, but kids braved the temps to line up and try out the new slide. The pool looks almost like a big-city water park with the huge slide on the south side. See Steele take his first run through the pipe on page 20 of this edition of the News.

Public safety storm shelter located at Gettysburg Hospital

Potter County Emergency Manager Shirley Jensen reminds Gettysburg residents that the storm shelter is now located at the Gettysburg Hospital. Use the entrance on the north side of the building.

With severe storm season upon us, it’s important to know where the safety shelter is located. Take note that it is now at the hospital and should be used to take cover in the event of a tornado if you do not have a basement or safe spot to take cover.
