Safety checkpoints planned
Potter County Sheriff Curt Hamburger is working to stop people from driving while they are impaired.
Now through Sept. 3, the Potter County Sheriffs Department and the SD Highway Patrol are working in conjunction with the “100 Days of Heat” program. He said they are joining forces and stepping up to enforce the laws regarding drunk and drugged driving.
“Basically, we want drivers to use some sense,” said Sheriff Hamburger. “If you have had a few drinks and are impaired, don’t drive. It’s simple.”
Random safety check points will be established throughout the county during the next two weeks as part of the program.
