Road project underway
Some of Potter County’s paved county roads are undergoing routine maintenance this week.
A repair and chip seal project is being done to roads in the Tolstoy, Gettysburg, and South Whiltock areas of the county.
The project started this week on the three mile stretch of county road from Hwy 47 through Tolstoy to the Walworth County line. It will be repaired and chip sealed. In Gettysburg, work will be done on Mannston Street to the airport, and both paved roads going to the cemeteries will be completed. At South Whitlock, the road going down to the boat dock is scheduled for work.
Sections of the road in need of repair will be repaired by digging out at least one foot of material and new material added to the hole. A four inch layer of asphalt is then added to bring the hole back to original grade and then chip sealed.
According to Potter County Highway Superintendent Steve Smith, the entire project should be completed within a week to 10 days.
Any questions regarding the road projects should be directed to Smith at 769-1011.
