Marking a memory…

The Art and Joane Beringer family of Gettysburg found a special surprise during the annual bike ride in memory of their daughter and sister, Jodi, along the Mikkelsen Trail in the Black Hills. For the past five years, the family has held a two-day, 76 mile ride along the trail in memory of Jodi Lynn Beringer Larabee, who lost her life to cancer in March of 2008. Mile-marker 33 has been dedicated in Jodi’s honor with the message, “Keep pep in your step.” It was dedicated by her friends Dave and Mared Beling, who rode the trail with her. The marker is located near Jodi’s home of Pringle, SD. Money raised from the bike ride is used to provide dance scholarships for youngsters in Custer and Gettysburg in Jodi’s memory. The event was held over Labor Day weekend. Pictured are members of her family (standing, l to r) Art Beringer, Marisa Beringer, Joane Beringer, (front) Heather Pile and son, Tanner Pile of Arizona.
