Welcome, hunters! Pheasant season opens Saturday
Considered by many to be a state holiday, the opening weekend of pheasant hunting season starts on Saturday in South Dakota.
Visitors to Potter County can not only look forward to a terrific hunt, since the bird numbers are healthy and much of their field cover is gone with the early harvest, but businesses around the area have good food and fun available.
Potter County Sheriff Curt Hamburger does reminder hunters that conditions are extremely dry this year and that Potter County is in a burn ban. Don’t drive vehicles in tall grass and be extra careful with cigarettes. “We don’t need a hunt interrupted by fire that has the potential to cause devastating damage,” he said.
