Louis W. Hagenlock
Louis W. “Louie” Hagenlock, 92, of Gettysburg, died Jan. 16, 2012, at the Oahe Manor in Gettysburg, SD.
Funeral services were held Jan. 19 at the United Methodist Church in Gettysburg, with Pastor Jeff Adel officiating. Burial was held in the Oakland Cemetery at Seneca, with military honors.
Louis Hagenlock was born Feb. 6, 1919 in Grinnell, IA to Waldemar “Walt” and Della (Grimm) Hagenlock. The family moved to Seneca in 1924.
In March 1939 Louie married Pearl Roseland.
Louie enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Pacific Theater, during WWII from 1944-1946.
On July 14, 1949 he married Rose Barondeau. They made their home in Seneca.
Louie owned and operated a repair shop in Gettysburg and later purchased the Medicine Rock Café.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Gettysburg Volunteer Fire Department and served as a member of the Gettysburg City Council.
He is survived by his daughters: Joane (Art) Beringer of Gettysburg and Ruth (Doug) Koch, of Spokane, WA; one son, Lew (Melody) Hagenlock of Greeley, CO; 10 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; one sister, Ellen (Nolen) Cogswell of Joaquin, TX; brothers: Carl of Onaka, Del (Donna) of Gettysburg, Les of Bozeman, MT, Glen and Roger (Bonnie) of Pierre.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; his daughters: Joyce in infancy and Eileen (Clair) Maroney; granddaughter, Jodi Beringer Larabee and one brother, Edwin.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Louie’s arrangements.
