Lydia M. Bieber
Lydia M. Bieber, 94, of Gettysburg, died Nov. 7, 2012 at the Oahe Haven, Gettysburg.
Funeral services were Nov. 12 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gettysburg with Pastor Daniel Tews officiating. Burial followed in the Gettysburg Cemetery.
Lydia M. Bieber was born July 22, 1918 to William and Christina (Bauder) Schilling at Lowry, SD.
Lydia married Alvin Bieber on June 27, 1939. They lived southwest of Lowry until they moved to Gettysburg in 1955. Lydia worked at the bakery, operated the Hiway Café, and started the school lunch program in 1958. She and her husband owned and operated Westside Grocery. She also worked at the Gettysburg Hospital as a dietician.
Lydia was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, and VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna (Robert) Hudson, Canon City, CO; one son, David, Gettysburg; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
Lydia is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; daughter, Sandra; sisters: Katie Schmitgel and Rose Beitelspacher; brothers: Jake, Bill, Edward, Christ, and Fred.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Lydia’s arrangements.
