Holiday season starts Saturday with parade and Firemen’s Ball
Gettysburg’s Chamber of Commerce and Masons have again joined forces to kick off the holiday season with the seventh annual Parade of Lights.
The electric parade will go through downtown starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
In honor of the 103rd anniversary of the Firemen’s Ball that night, Santa and Mrs. Claus will lead the parade on a firetruck. They will greet people at the Masonic Temple following the parade, and candy canes will be handed out to the children along the parade route by Santa’s elves. A free-will soup supper will give parade goers a chance to warm up afterward at the Masonic Lodge.
The winners of the parade will be selected by popular vote at the Masonic Lodge following the parade.
The winning float will be presented a traveling trophy to display for bragging rights until next year’s parade. R and L Construction took top honors in last year’s parade.
There’s still time to register a float by contacting the Chamber office at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 765-2528.
