Community Foundation sets fundraising goal of $100,000
Fundraising is underway to raise $100,000 locally by the Gettysburg Area Community Foundation.
Established in December 2011, the Foundation is raising and investing funds into a permanent endowment with the South Dakota Community Foundation. The locally raised funds of $100,000 will then qualify the Foundation for a matching grant of $25,000 from the South Dakota Community Foundation.
Grant requests will be accepted by the Foundation in January 2013 and donations received before the end of this year will be eligible to be part of the total funds available for distribution in 2013. Four and a half percent of all funds raised will be granted to local non-profit groups, organizations, institutions, and agencies planning projects which will benefit the community.
Approximately a third of the funds have been raised, but donations are needed to meet the $100,000 goal by the end of the year. All donations qualify as a charitable deduction with the IRS.
Information on making a donation as part of the fundraiser will be part of a mailing. Brochures explaining all aspects of the fund drive are also available at the Bank of the West and Great Western Bank.
Donations may be made to: Gettysburg Area Community Foundation, PO Box 33, Gettysburg, South Dakota 57442, or left at Bank of the West, Great Western Bank.
