Steven A. Anderson, 51, of Pierre, died Jan. 28, 2013, after a long battle with cancer.  Services were held Friday, Feb.1, at Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre.  Burial followed at Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, SD.
Steve was born Sept. 6, 1961, in Gettysburg to Marvin and Catherine (Simon) Anderson.  His family moved to Pierre when he was only a few weeks old, with Steve making the trip in a dresser drawer.  He attended school in Pierre, graduating in 1979.  His favorite class throughout High School was auto shop, which he turned into a career, working at Holst Motors, Wegner Auto, and Wal-Mart SuperCenter.
Steve loved spending time with friends, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, racing dirt bikes and four-wheelers, having friends and family over for barbeques on the patio, and attending car races.  He was happiest when surrounded by people, and helping people and animals, having fostered more than 50 homeless dogs for the Humane Society.  His tough outside image hid a soft heart when it came to his nieces and nephews, godson, dogs and cats.
Steve was an American Heart Association honoree and participated in several Relay for Life walks during his illness.  He received several honors from the Chrysler Corporation during his time as a Technician and later as Service Advisor for Wegner Auto.  He was awarded Associate of the Month from Wal-Mart, and would always go above and beyond what was required to make his customers happy.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Marla, his brother John (Mary) of Wichita, KS and their children, his many friends and coworkers, his godson Steven, and his four legged family of Hazel, Molly, Pongo, Charley, and Gossamer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Catherine of Pierre, his grandparents, and beloved uncles and aunts.
Feigum Funeral Home of Pierre is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be conveyed to the family at www.feigumfh.com
