Saved by the Belt…

Donna Rausch and her son, DaShawn, of Tolstoy, SD were presented the “Saved by the Belt” award by SD Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Goldsmith. The Rausches were involved in an accident the morning of Jan. 21 when their vehicle rolled one and a half times on a gravel road outside of Hoven. Both were wearing seatbelts, and only received minor injuries. Trooper Goldsmith said that the seatbelts were believed to be a key factor in why they were not more seriously injured. Here we see Trooper Goldsmith giving young DeShawn a “fist bump” in recognition of the good job the youngster did by being safe and wearing his seat belt. Other local law enforcement on hand at the presentation at the Hoven Elementary School on Feb. 13 were Potter County Sheriff Curt Hamburger and Hoven Police Officer Eric Stuwe.
