Potter County sports rescheduled due to ‘winter’ spring weather
The prolonged winter put the spring sports seasons behind schedule this year, and Vern Smith, Activities Director at GHS and coach for the Potter County Battlers has been working to reschedule as many track and golf meets as possible with the little time remaining in the season.
There will be a YTC varsity track meet on Thursday, May 2 at Battler Field starting at 10 a.m. On Friday and Saturday, the Howard Wood Dakota Relays are scheduled in Sioux Falls.
The Tiger Relays will also be held in Ipswich on Saturday. Tuesday, May 7, is the Eureka Legion meet and Saturday, May 11, the CSDC meet will be held in Mobridge. All those meets begin at 10 a.m.
The region meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m. in Gettysburg, and the track teams will head to State in Sioux Falls on May 24-25.
Junior High track action continues with a YTC meet on May 6 in Eureka at 2:30, a CSDC meet in Mobridge on May 11 at 10 a.m., and the Potter County Invitational for grades six, seven, and eight at home on May 13 at 2 p.m.
The golf teams hit the links on May 2 in Faulkton at 10 a.m., May 4 in Eureka at 10 a.m., May 6 for the pre-region in Pierre at 9 a.m., the YTC on May 9 at home with a 9 a.m. tee time, and the Ipswich Invitation on May 11 at 10 a.m. The Region 5B meet is in Pierre on May 13 at 9 a.m., and State is in Brookings on May 20-21.
The JV golfers head to Bowdle on May 7 and to Mobridge on May 9. Starting times have not been determined.
