Velma Carlson, 91, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Lebanon, died May 6, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.
Visitation will be from 7 -9 p.m. May 10 at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg. Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013, in the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, D with the Rev. Jeff Adel presiding.
Velma Rodman was born to Joe and Blanche (Rawstern) Rodman at Hitchcock on Oct. 30, 1921. Velma graduated from Wolsey High School in 1939.
She married Clarence Carlson on March 1, 1945. They moved to Lebanon. Velma worked for Inez Voight’s grocery store then at Jim Cameron’s grocery store in Gettysburg until her retirement. Clarence and Velma resided in Lebanon until their move to Sioux Falls in 2008.
Velma is survived by three sons: Randy (Cora) of Sandy, Utah; Douglas (Patty) of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and Larry (Ev) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Velma in death were her husband, parents, one brother, two sisters including her twin, Thelma, an infant brother and an infant sister.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Velma’s arrangements.
