Benefit scheduled for Nic Zuber on June 23

A benefit and auction is planned for Nic Zuber, son of Patty and John Zuber, to help defray medical expenses.
Nic will be a junior at GHS next fall, and spent the end of his sophomore year undergoing brain surgeries. It started in August of 2010, when a shunt was placed in his body to help drain excess fluid off his brain. Since then, the shunt has plugged a number of times, resulting in frequent and unexpected trips to Bismarck for more surgery.
The most recent case involved flying him to Minneapolis, where the shunt was removed and adding a new way for the fluid to drain.
A benefit and auction will be held on June 23 at the American Legion Community Building from 5 to 7 p.m.
Donations may be made to Nic by contacting the Rev. Daniel and Shayna Tews at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gettysburg or by calling 765-9300 or cell 812-320-9652.
