Man faces assault charges
A Gettysburg man is facing a felony assault charge following an incident with a firearm at a river resort last month.
Documents filed with the Potter County Clerk of Courts charge Robert Drew, 74, of Gettysburg with one count of aggravated assault, which is a Class Three felony. He also faces a Class Two misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, along with charges of simple assault and reckless discharge of firearm, both of which are Class One misdemeanors.
The felony charge alleges that on May 24, Drew attempted to cause bodily injury with a dangerous weapon. A misdemeanor charge alleged that Drew was intoxicated with possession of a loaded firearm when the incident occurred at a residence at the West Whitlock Resort.
The incident was investigated by the Potter County Sheriff’s Department, and the defendant is released on bond. A court appearance is scheduled in Potter County for July 15 at 10 a.m.
A Class Three felony carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
