Share

A preliminary hearing for Jared Price, age 19 of North Sioux City, SD was held Tuesday in Potter County Court. Price was apprehended on July 13 when he allegedly stole a vehicle from a residence on East Lincoln Avenue in Gettysburg.
The vehicle in question was a 2003 Buick Park Avenue belonging to Roxie Ripley, who testified that it was parked outside her home at 7:45 that evening and was gone when she checked again at 8:30. She questioned neighbors to see if anyone had seen the car leave, and then called 911. She said the car was returned to her later that evening, however, some items were missing including her purse and blankets.
Trooper Frank Krumm of the SD Highway Patrol testified that he had arrested Price at 8:46 that evening for speeding on US Hwy 212 near Seneca when the vehicle, traveling east behind Trooper Krumm, passed him on the highway in excess of the posted 65 m.p.h. speed limit.
Price was taken to Gettysburg where he was questioned by Police Chief Bill Wainman. According to testimony, at that time Price told officers that he had taken the vehicle with the intent to go back to Sioux City.
Judge John Brown set the arraignment for Aug. 19 in Potter County court.
Price remains in custody in the Walworth County jail.
