Dr. Raymond M. Beach
Dr. Raymond Melvin Beach, 81, of Fremont, NE, died Aug. 15, 2013 at the Bellevue Medica Center.
He was born on Aug. 8, 1932 in Lebanon, SD to Raymond Oscar and Jeanetta (Chinnawelch) Beach. He grew up near Lebanon where he attended country school, graduating as the only student in his class in 1946. Raymond helped with the family business, Beach Trucking in his younger years.
Raymond married his high school sweetheart, Veronica Bub in 1950 and they were blessed with two children: Randy and Rhonda. He joined the Navy in 1950 and served in Portsmouth, VA for four years. Raymond worked in the Naval Hospital and it was here that he took an interest in medicine. He attended one year at Northern Teachers College and four years at Northwest Chiropractic College in Minneapolis, MN with a graduate degree of Doctor of Chiropractic in 1960. He spent two years at a practice in Des Moines, IA before moving his family to Fremont, NE in 1962. His first office was located at 300 Main St. before purchasing an office at 300 W. 23rd Street, where in 1980 he was joined by his son Dr. Randall Beach. He also ran a secondary office at 108th and Maple and commuted between the two until his retirement in 2003.
Raymond married his love Vera Davis in 1994 and they resided in Lincoln, NE. His career spanned 40 years where he made so many lifetime friends and was loved by those who knew him. He loved the art of healing and was well respected in his field. He served as President of the Physician Association in 1973 and was named Chiropractor of the Year in 1972. Raymond was very active in the community and the National Chiropractic Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Jeanetta.
Raymond is survived by his wife Vera of Hillsborough, KA; son and daughter-in-law Dr. Randall and Jody Beach of Fremont, NE; daughter Rhonda Vlach of Fremont, NE, grandchildren Devin Beach of Bridgeport, CT, Ryan Beach of Penora, IL, Deondrea McInroy and husband Tim of Fremont, NE; great-grandchildren Talea and Parker McInroy.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 23 from noon to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.. The funeral is Saturday at 11 a.m., with all at the funeral home. Military honors conducted by U.S. Navy. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Nebraska Chiropractic Association.
