School bids opened
Bids for the new school project were opened and discussed during a special school board meeting last week.
The lowest bid came from Sharpe Enterprises at $7,550,000, which was over the $6.9 million bond. A number of reasons were given for the increase in cost, all from the contractor side and not due to any changes in plans on the side of the school.
Dean Marske, architect with HKG, will meet with the contractor to discuss options for the project and then meet with the school board on Sept. 11 during their monthly meeting to determine the best way to move forward.
A bid from Schlachter Lumber was presented for the bus barn, and was tabled for further discussion.
Minutes from the meeting are published on page 12, and online at www.pottercountynews.com and www.sdpublicnotices.com.
