Family fun walk/run to raise money to fight breast cancer
A Spooktacular family fun walk/run is scheduled for Oct. 12 in Gettysburg.
The third annual event is being organized to raise money with the proceeds staying in the Gettysburg area to help with breast cancer detection and prevention, and to help those fighting breast cancer. Individuals, families, and teams are encouraged to participate in the fundraiser in either of two categories. A mile-long family walk and kid’s fun run and a 5K run or walk will start at 9 a.m. There is a fee to register, and participants who register by Wednesday, Sept. 26 will receive a free t-shirt and prize bag.
The event is again being organized locally by Kelsey Fischer, who owns and operates the Vibe Salon in Gettysburg.
She also said that to add to the fun in the spirit of Halloween, everyone is encouraged to wear costumes for the Oct. 12 event, and prizes will be awarded for different categories for both adults and children.
Anyone and everyone may register, and although you can create your own team, teams are not required to participate.
Registration forms are available at the salon, the GHS office, and Vilas. Those who pre-register by Sept. 27 will get a t-shirt and goodie bag. Watch the News for updates on the event.
