Daniel Ray Tobin
Daniel Ray Tobin, 55, of Cheyenne, Wyoming died on Jan. 2, 2014 at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Dan was born July 6, 1958 in Deadwood, SD to Verne and Nancy (Hatch) Tobin. He attended South Dakota public schools and Vo Tech where he studied building trades.
Dan had a long work history in the building/commercial insulation trades, most recently employed by Trilliant Oilfield Services out of Casper where he was highly respected.
He was an avid fisherman and looked forward each October to the family pheasant hunting trip in Gettysburg, SD. He was an enthusiastic collector of many things including clocks, knives and sunglasses. He had recently found joy in traveling having returned from Niagara Falls with his fiance’.
Dan is survived by his fiance’ Mary Martin of Cheyenne, his father Verne Tobin of Las Vegas, sisters Lori Keeley and Brenda Tobin of Las Vegas, sister Marian Aikin of Lebanon, Oregon, son Shaun Tobin of Cheyenne, daughter and son-in-law Nancy and David Abel and grandchildren Freddy and Lillie of Casper, step brother Tad Cox of Las Vegas, step sister Laura Sanders of California and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Tobin and step mother Charlotte Tobin.
Cremation has been completed and his ashes will be spread on his birthday at Lake Powell, Utah, one of his favorite fishing locations.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held Saturday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 1820 Capitol Avenue, Cheyenne, Wy.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be mailed to the estate of Daniel Tobin for his grandchildrens’ college fund in care of Mary Martin to 3540 Rd 212, Cheyenne, WY 82009.
