City council, school board positions up for election
Nomination forms for both the Gettysburg City Council and Gettysburg School Board may be circulated starting Jan. 31. The positions vacated are the result of expired terms of the present representatives.
Five positions on the Gettysburg City Council are up for election.
Aldermen are needed for four year terms in Ward 1, Ward 2, and Ward 3. Aldermen are also needed for two year terms in Ward 1 and Ward 3.
The members currently serving on the board are Mayor Bill Wuttke, council members Dawn Nagel, Fran Van Bockel, Ron Larson, Bryan Hause, and Kenny Goebel. Wuttke and Nagel are not up for re-election this year.
Three positions on the school board for three year terms will expire. Those incumbents are M. Kay Schmidt, Ryan Lake, and Paul Kellogg. The positions are elected at-large from candidates who live within the Gettysburg School District.
Petitions for the city council are available at the finance office located in downtown Gettysburg. School board petitions are located in the business office at the Gettysburg School. Nomination petitions for both boards must be filed by Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. The elections will be held together on April 8 at the city office downtown.
