Debra Shaw


Debra Shaw, 59, of Pierre, went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2012 at White River Healthcare Center. Memorial Services will be at 7:00pm, Friday, March 30, 2012 at Feigum Funeral Home in Pierre and at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Eagle Butte United Church of Christ. Debra Kay (Simon) Shaw was born at Mobridge, SD on January 29, 1953. She was the eldest child of Donald and Donna (Parker) Simon. Debra graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1971. She began her public service career of 37 years working for the South Dakota Department of Social Services in Pierre, attaining the position of Administrative Assistant. Many state satellites were also deeply appreciative of her dedication and help when needed. Debra married Ronald Lee Shaw in Pierre, South Dakota. They were married for 20 years. She was a member of United Church of Christ in Eagle Butte. Deb enjoyed several hobbies including cross-stitch, reading, watching movies and game shows. On July 30, 2010, Debra suffered a life threatening stroke leaving her with severe paralysis. She spent many months in Pierre and Sioux Falls hospitals. On January 17, 2011 she was admitted to White River Nursing Care Center in White River, SD. After many more hospital visits, her health continued to diminish. Debra is survived by her husband, Ronald and LD (Little Dog) whom she both loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Simon, her grandparents, and their many loving dogs. Also thankful for having shared her life are her dad, Donald Simon, Eagle Butte; Darla Simon, Mobridge; Duane (Sharon) Simon and Family, Aberdeen; and Doyle (Marcia) Simon and Family, Eagle Butte; Jasper (Pat) Shaw and Family, Miller; several aunts/uncles/cousins, extended family, and White River Nursing Care Center staff and residents.
