GHS graduation Sunday at gym

Nineteen students will be honored on Sunday afternoon during the annual graduation ceremony at Gettysburg High School. The Class of 2014 has the distinct honor of being the last to graduate from the old GHS building, which was built in 1922 and slated for demolition the first week in June this year.
The commencement ceremony will be held in the school gym starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 18. The commencement address will be given by Mrs. Julie Poeppel, who has served as English teacher at the school for the past 30 years and is retiring with the class of 2014.
The class valedictorian, Alli Lake, daughter of John and Bridget Lake, and class salutatorian, Lilli Cronin, daughter of Matt and Janet Cronin, will also address the crowd during graduation.
Following the ceremony, the graduates will greet well-wishers in a reception line on the front lawn of the high school. The high school building will be open following graduation for self-guided tours.
