Bike Rodeo Saturday, May 31
The Gettysburg Police Department is joining forces with local businesses and the Gettysburg Fire Department to put on a Bike Rodeo for young cyclists.
The event will be held at the city park on Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to noon. Youngsters up to fifth grade may participate in the activities, but all ages are invited to register bikes with the police department.
“We want a fun way for kids to learn some of the rules of the road and show them how to safely get around town on their bikes as we head into the summer season,” said Chief of Police Bill Wainman. “This will give kids the chance to practice some bike safety, make sure their bikes are tuned up for summer, and have some fun, too!”
The first 50 kids at the event will be given free helmets and water bottles. Volunteers will help them through the bicycle course, and bike mechanic Dean Schmidtgall will check bikes to make sure they are in safe, working condition.
For more information contact the police department or come to the park to check out the fun on Saturday, May 31 at 10 a.m.
