Rain reschedules Bike Rodeo
The nice rain that fell on Potter County was a fine excuse to postpone the Bike Rodeo that was set for Saturday morning.
The Gettysburg Police Department is joining forces with local businesses and the Gettysburg Fire Department to put on a Bike Rodeo for young cyclists.
The event have been rescheduled for Saturday, June 14 at the city park from 10 a.m. to noon. Youngsters up to fifth grade may participate in the activities, but all ages are invited to register bikes with the police department.
Chief of Police Bill Wainman said the Bike Rodeo is a fun way for kids to learn the rules of the road and show them how to safely get around town on their bikes as more bicycles are on the streets during the summer season. The event gives kids the chance to practice some bike safety, make sure their bikes are tuned up for summer, and have some fun, too!
The first 50 kids at the event will be given free helmets and water bottles. Volunteers will help them through the bicycle course, and bike mechanic Dean Schmidtgall will check bikes to make sure they are in safe, working condition.
For more information contact the police department or come to the park to check out the fun on Saturday, June 14 at 10 a.m.
