Margaret “Marge” Sterner


Margaret “Marge” L. Sterner, 76, of Redfield, SD, died July 30, 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be Aug. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Redfield with the Reverend Stephen Perry officiating. After a time for fellowship and lunch the burial will be in Doland Cemetery near Doland, SD. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home.
Marge was born June 1, 1936 in Doland to Oscar and Loverne (Lancaster) Woodfork. She grew up in Doland and graduated from Doland High School. Marge married John Sterner. She worked in Gettysburg as the activity director at the nursing home and as the Potter County Sheriff’s dispatcher. She worked at South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield as the scheduling coordinator.
She was a member of the VFW auxiliary the Jaycees.
Marge is survived by her children Mardene (Jim) Robideau of Rockham, SD; Milton (Jimae) Ragels of Deadwood, SD; and Parry Sterner of Redfield; numerous grandchildren, brothers Wayne (Kay) Woodfork of California; Oscar (Carol) Woodfork of Redfield; her sisters: Violet Brockhoft of Watertown, SD; Bernice (Oscar) Solheim of Frankfort, SD; and Loretta Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Milford and Wade and her sister Erma Cunningham.
