Moonlight Golf raises over $6,000
The sixth annual American Cancer Society Moonlight Golf Tournament was held Friday, July 28 at the Gettysburg Country Club. Organized by Stacy Larson and Sandi Shutter in memory of Dick Shutter, the event drew 98 golfers, up from 84 last year, and raised over $6,000 for the fight against cancer, which is twice the amount raised last year. Money raised from the silent auction was donated to the Compassionate Care Hospice, which assists with end-of-life care, and many of their clients are cancer patients.
Winners of the bean bag tourney were Michael Hagny, and Jared Joachim, with Keri Archer and Jason Hansen taking second place. The golf tournament winners were Kole Hawkinson, Jason Hansen, Teryn Luce and Kyle Smith, with the team of Kyle Kusser, Justin Harer, Tyler Fischer and Jared Joachim coming in second, and Erik Smith, Blaine Schmidt, Jarid Schmidt and Kris Slayton taking third.
First place honors for the best decorated golf carts went to the team of (l to r) Imelda Simon, Rick Simon, Angela Freidel, and Gayle Kludt. They followed the them of “Red Solo Cup.”
All decked out in red, white, and blue, the team of Cindy Frost, Lori Hunnel, Taylor Frost, and Alycia Oster won second place for the best decorated golf carts during the tournament on Friday night.
Stacy Larson and her step-mom, Sandi Shutter, co-organized the Moonlight Golf Cancer Tournament in memory of Stacy’s dad, Dick Shutter. Now in its sixth year, the annual event raised over $6,000 for the American Cancer Society and the Compassionate Care Hospice. It is also a fun community event, this year bringing out 98 golfers and some pretty stylish hats!
