Allen Gibson

A memorial service was held Saturday, June 15 at the United Methodist Church, Gettysburg with Pastor Jeff Adel officiating.
Allen was born Aug. 30, 1957 to Arch and Darlene (Russell) Gibson in Gettysburg, South Dakota.  He grew up in the Gettysburg area, attending school and graduating from Gettysburg High School.  He went on to attend school at Mitchell Vo-Tech.
After schooling, Allen spent time in many places.  He lived in Austin, Texas while working for a refrigeration company.  He then moved to Redfield and worked for the SD Developmental Center.  Later Al moved to Aberdeen and worked for the School for the Visually Impaired and eventually moved back to Potter County where he worked as a farm hand for various farmers.
Allen loved riding his motorcycle, and he belonged to a group of motorcycle friends called “Just Bro’s.” He enjoyed fishing in his free time and crocheting blankets for kids around Gettysburg.  Allen also took pride in becoming a member of the United Methodist Church.
Allen is survived by his brother, Bill Gibson of Gettysburg; his nephew, David Gibson of Aurora, SD; his great nieces: Presley, Courtney, Sydney, and Kennedy Gibson of Aurora, SD; and many friends.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Arch and Darlene Gibson; and his grandparents, Bill and Floss Russell.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Allen’s arrangements.  (
