Battler golfers head to state

The Potter County Battler golfers are headed to the state tournament in Yankton after a great day at the Region 5B meet in Huron on Monday, May 20. The four boys placed first as a team, and the girls came in third overall as a team with all three qualifying for state.

The state meet was originally scheduled to be held in Mitchell, but due to unfavorable conditions with water and drainage issues preventing several holes at Wild Oak Golf Course in Mitchell from being opened this spring, the 2019 Class B State Golf Championships are being relocated to Yankton on Monday and Tuesday, June 3-4.

The Class “B” Boys will play at Hillcrest Country Club, while the Class “B” Girls will play at Fox Run Golf Course.

The plan will be to return to Mitchell for the 2020 championships, which were originally set to be hosted by Yankton.

Coaching the golf teams are Keith Scott and Rick Banghart.
