Board of Education approves teacher negotiations

The Gettysburg Board of Education held a special meeting on the above date in room 105. Present were the following: Brian Robbennolt, Matt Cronin, Kevin Geditz, Kenny Goebel, Paul Kellogg, Mark Schatz and Daryn Zeigler. Also present were Chip Sundberg, Barb Everson, Julie Williams, Monica Rains, Caylee Sorum, Sally Simon, Crissy Bieber, Tricia Heien, Sara Wuttke, Kirsten Cronin, Jamie Cronin, Patty Stoner, Kim Goebel and Vern Smith.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Board President Robbennolt called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

Motion by Goebel second by Zeigler to approve the agenda. All present voted aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Geditz, second by Kellogg, to adjourn to Executive Session for Negotiations, SDCL 1-25-2-4 at 7:01PM. All present voted aye. Motion carried.

Board President Robbennolt declared the Board out of Executive Session at 8:50 PM.

Motion by Goebel, second by Zeigler to offer the following items to the certified staff for the 2018-19 school year: give the certified staff a 3% increase; to pay $20 for mandatory staff attendance at school concerts; and to include the following paragraph in the negotiated agreement: Certified staff will be paid a stipend of $100 per day up to 3 days per year/staff member for professional growth. Only professional development taking place during non-contract days will be compensated under this provision. The teacher must apply to administration for approval 14 days prior to the event. The cap for the certified staff is not to exceed $3000/fiscal year. The remaining funds will not be carried over. Roll call vote: Robbennolt aye, Cronin aye, Geditz aye, Goebel aye, Kellogg nay, Schatz aye and Zeigler aye. Motion carried.

Motion by Schatz, second by Zeigler to adjourn the meeting at 8:51 PM. All present voted aye. Motion carried.
