Daisy Florence Merrill Plumb


Daisy Merrill was born July 12, 1919 in rural Sully County. She died Jan. 6, 2019. 

After high school, she moved to Huron to pursue a job. She married Alvin Plumb on May 25, 1942, while he was in the Army during WWII. She began working for Armour’s Meat Packing Plant in Huron as a meat trimmer. She continued employment there until September 1976 when she retired. They bought their home near Piedmont, where she lived until Dec. 26, 2018, when she suffered a major stroke.

She is survived by her daughter, Reneé Plumb, and her sister, Dorothy Roseland.

She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Dora Archer, Ray Merrill, Ben Merrill, Allen Merrill, Robert “Bud” Merrill, Don Merrill, Charles “Chuck” Merrill, and Ed Merrill.

Funeral services were held Jan. 11 at Grace United Methodist Church in Piedmont with Pastor Karl Kroger officiating. Burial followed at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established. Kinkade Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
