Harold “Pat” Glodt

Harold “Pat” Glodt, 95, of Gettysburg, died Saturday, May 11, 2019 at his home, with his family at his side.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gettysburg, with Fr. Jerry Kopel officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Gettysburg.  A prayer service will be at 7 p.m., Friday, May 24 at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg, with visitation one hour prior.

Pat was born Nov. 20, 1923 to Nick and Grace (Gear) Glodt at Forest City, SD. He grew up and lived all of his life in Potter County. Pat attended area rural schools and Gettysburg school. As a young boy, he farmed and ranched with his dad.

On Jan. 26, 1949, he married Carrie Hageman at Hoven, SD. To this union five daughters were born: Patty Glodt, Connie Forgey, Bev Metscher, Karen (Mike) DeVine, and Barb Glodt.

Pat continued farming and raising livestock until 1988 when he retired. He then helped other area farmers with their work. In 2010, they moved into Gettysburg. 

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He received the American Legion Certificate of Participation Support Award in March of 1992. Pat was also a County Commissioner.

Pat enjoyed reading, watching TV, and going to auction sales. He also enjoyed listening to old-time music on his radio.

Pat cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed attending his grandsons’ sporting events.

Pat is survived by his wife, Carrie; five daughters and one son-in-law; three grandsons: Nick (Valeree), Matt (Olivia), and Jeff DeVine; three great-granddaughters: Kamryn and Aubree DeVine (Nick and Valeree), Carlotta DeVine (Matt and Olivia); many nieces and nephews; and two brothers-in-law: Neil Christensen and Donald Rausch.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Agnes Rausch and Lucille Christensen; and brother, Lawrence Glodt.
