‘Home Free’ concert series show Saturday, tickets available for next year’s lineup

Gettysburg is hosting professional performers from across the nation as part of the newly formed High Plains Concert Series.
The third and final of the season performances is Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 at the Legion Building with Home Free, a group of five guys from Minnesota with five microphones and no instruments. They come to town with their blend of a cappella music, presented as a vocal band. That means they do more than sing; they recreate the entire band experience, with all the instrumental sounds being made by them. While doing so, they engage audiences in a blend of harmonies while entertaining with good, clean fun.
They have been heard in shows all over the world performing at everything from elite black-tie events to casual high school assemblies. They have sung for Fortune 500 companies, professional sports teams, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Norwegian Cruise Lines, Allied Concert touring services, countless state and county fairs across the country, and many more. They have also brought their love of a cappella music into public schools, raising music awareness. With a musical style they call “an eclectic mix of everything” they have taken a cappella in a direction that caters to every generation.
The group performed at the Gettysburg School last fall through a grant from the Maas Foundation.
Their repertoire includes a wide variety of songs that will appeal to music fans of all ages. The audience can expect anything from Disney show tunes to the Beatles to favorites from the 50s.
“I saw Home Free in concert as part of the concert series reciprocity package in Pierre, and they were incredible,” said Chamber treasurer and High Plains Concert Series member Bobby Jenner. “Their show is filled with familiar songs, plus they add humor to the mix, bringing big-city entertainment to Gettysburg. The performance is a great addition to the concert series and I highly recommend it!”
The concert series is organized through the combined forces of the High Plains Arts Council and the Gettysburg Chamber of Commerce. Concert series members in Gettysburg who purchase series tickets for the upcoming season will have reciprocity with both Pierre and Redfield concerts, which offer more presentations throughout the season. Heading up the High Plains Concert Series are Betty Holzwarth and Sarah Larson.
If you do not have a ticket to Home Free, you may purchase it at the door in combination with the new season memberships. Students may attend the show for free with adult supervision.
