Jeanette Westphal


Jeanette Westphal, 82, of Gettysburg, died May 9, 2013 at Avera Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., June 1, at Grace Bible Church, Gettysburg with Pastor Jeff Adel and Pastor Ken Cartlidge officiating. Burial will follow in the Gettysburg Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.
Jeanette Westphal was born Nov. 21, 1930, to Lillian (Maquardt) and George Adams at Gettysburg.  She attended school in Gettysburg and graduated in 1948.  She attended Chillicathe Business College, returning in January of 1949 to work in the Potter County Welfare Office.
On April 3, 1949, she married Glenn A. Westphal at Lake Benton, MN. They farmed near Gettysburg.
Jeanette was a member of the VFW and the Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include daughters: Glenda (Jeff) Varnell, Denver, Colorado, Lynette (Ken) Zimmerman, Waukesha, Wisconsin, Connie (Mark) Knell, Bismarck, North Dakota; son, Bob (Deb) Westphal, Gettysburg, South Dakota; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Harriet Nelson, Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Cindy, her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg is in charge of arrangements.
