Local government positions up for election

Nomination forms for the Gettysburg City Council and Gettysburg School Board may be circulated throughout the month. The positions vacated are the result of expired terms of the present representatives.
Five positions on the Gettysburg City Council are up for election.
Aldermen are needed for four year terms in Ward 1, Ward 2, and Ward 3. Aldermen are also needed for two year terms in Ward 1 and Ward 3.
The members currently serving on the board are Mayor Bill Wuttke, council members Dawn Nagel, Fran Van Bockel, Ron Larson, Bryan Hause, and Kenny Goebel. Wuttke and Nagel are not up for re-election this year.
Three positions on the school board for three year terms will expire. Those incumbents are M. Kay Schmidt, Ryan Lake, and Paul Kellogg. The positions are elected at-large from candidates who live within the Gettysburg School District.
Petitions for the city council are available at the finance office located in downtown Gettysburg. School board petitions are located in the business office at the Gettysburg School. Nomination petitions for both boards must be filed by Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. The elections will be held together on April 8 at the city office downtown.
Those interested in vying for a county office may circulate petitions until March 25. Petitions  are available at the Auditor’s office on the second floor of the Potter County Courthouse in Gettysburg.
Positions up for election this year include County Commissioners in District I held by Randy Simon, District III held by Bruce Williams, and District V held by Delvin Worth, which are all four year terms. The Auditor, held by Karen Doerr; Register of Deeds, held by Elaine “Dugger” Storkson; and the office of County Sheriff, held by Curt Hamburger, are both up for election as four year terms.
