School Board opens bids for new school

The Gettysburg Board of Education held a special meeting in the Elementary Library on the above date.  Present were the following:  Kay Schmidt, Kevin Geditz, Paul Kellogg, Ryan Lake, Brian Robbennolt and Kimberly Schweiss. Absent:  Matt Cronin.  Also present were Tim Hagedorn, Wendy Smith, Barb Everson, Dean Marske, Craig Smith, and Mike Schlachter.
The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
The elementary air conditioning article in the paper was discussed.
Board Vice-President Schmidt called the meeting to order at 4:03 PM.
Motion by Kellogg, second by Schweiss to approve the agenda with the following addition:  Add Executive Session for Legal issues, SDCL 1-25-2-3.  All present voted aye.  Motion carried.
The bids for the new school were discussed.  Motion by Robbennolt, second by Schweiss to acknowledge the lowest bid of Sharpe Enterprises of $7,550,000.00.   All present voted aye.  HKG will meet with Sharpe and will report to the board meeting on Sept. 11, 2013.
The bus barn bid from Schlachter Lumber was the only one received.  The bid was for $78,083.88 for a 60’x80’ building or an alternate of $67,160.91 for a 48’x80 building.  Motion by Robbennolt, second by Lake to table the bid.  All present voted aye.  Motion carried.
Motion by Lake, second by Kellogg to adjourn to Executive Session for Legal Issues, SDCL 1-25-2-3 at 4:25 PM.  All present voted aye.  Motion carried.
Board Vice-President Schmidt declared the board in session at 4:35 PM.
Motion by Lake, second by Robbennolt to adjourn the meeting.  All present voted aye.  Motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 PM.
